Draft Grade — Chiefs

Good, not great, for the Chiefs: B-. When the story of this class is written, it opens with John Campbell Jr. at pick 251, a reach of 145 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The Moore steal is the beam this whole class leans on. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Josh Conerly Jr.
In No. 31 they get a building block for the line at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick63
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in the Round 2 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick95
Rnd3
Howard Cross III
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Howard Cross III. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick133
Rnd4
Jayden Higgins
Steal is underselling it; Jayden Higgins at Round 4, Pick 31 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick207
Rnd6
Woody Marks
The board had Woody Marks higher than the 207th pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick226
Rnd7
Malachi Moore
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick251
Rnd7
John Campbell Jr.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, John Campbell Jr. well ahead of where he belonged. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick257
Rnd7
Jackson Woodard
A wild overpay on Jackson Woodard in the 257th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It fills a real need, too.
