Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueA- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers won the night they stopped Skattebo from sliding. Grade: B.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Skattebo fell into No. 226. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Mason Graham
In the 11th overall pick they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick43 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Malaki Starks in Round 2, Pick 11, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick75 Rnd3 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in slot 75 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick99 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
A running back of that caliber at No. 99 is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jake Majors
They let Jake Majors come to them and pounced at pick No. 111. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick137 Rnd4 Barrett Carter
They barely believed it either: Barrett Carter still on the board at the 137th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick185 Rnd6 Jaeden Roberts
They will replay Jaeden Roberts at pick 185 for years; that is how good the value is. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick226 Rnd7 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in the Round 7 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick230 Rnd7 Nohl Williams
They left a pile of value on the table to take Nohl Williams this early at slot 230. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick249 Rnd7 Luke Lachey
A reach on Luke Lachey in the 249th pick; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick255 Rnd7 Brennan Presley
The board had cheaper options than Brennan Presley at No. 255, and it noticed. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
