The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Cam Skattebo fell into No. 226. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The cost of the Williams reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.

Offensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
