The 49ers let Nolen fall into their laps, and walked away with a B-.

The board owed the 49ers one, and it paid up: Walter Nolen, the No. 96 name on the board, sitting there at slot 127 like a gift left on the doorstep.

A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. If Colby pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

No drama and no debate, Kenneth Grant went about where he belonged in pick No. 63. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

Jaxson Dart at Round 3, Pick 31 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.

Somehow Walter Nolen was still sitting there in the 127th overall pick, and they pounced on premier interior defensive lineman value. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick159 Rnd5 Tre Harris
A reasonable price with a little left over, Tre Harris in the 159th pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick191 Rnd6 Connor Colby
A real head-scratcher, Connor Colby in slot 191 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick223 Rnd7 Nolan Rucci
The board had cheaper options than Nolan Rucci at the Round 7 slot, and it noticed. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
