Grand theft in the 163rd pick: the Steelers steal Bowman Jr. and grade out a B.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Billy Bowman Jr. got past him. The Steelers do not have to explain a thing at the Round 5 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Crenshaw-Dickson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick21 Rnd1 Ashton Jeanty
In the Round 1 slot they get a three-down runner, and a steal at that. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick52 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They took Alfred Collins at par in slot 52, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick83 Rnd3 Quinn Ewers
Quinn Ewers at No. 83 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick122 Rnd4 Emery Jones Jr.
Emery Jones Jr. in the 122nd overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick163 Rnd5 Billy Bowman Jr.
Billy Bowman Jr. at the 163rd pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick225 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at Round 7, Pick 7 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick231 Rnd7 Logan Parr
Logan Parr at pick No. 231 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick247 Rnd7 Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
