Neal should have been long gone. The Dolphins pounced, and earned a B.

Somebody in Round 5, Pick 12 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Devin Neal, the No. 84 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. No fireworks, but a solid B.

They will need Mertz to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

They will replay Andrew Mukuba at slot 98 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.

A wide receiver of that caliber at the 133rd overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.

The board fumbled Devin Neal all the way to pick 149, and they scooped it up. It patches a soft spot without any drama.

Somehow Smael Mondon Jr. was still sitting there in Round 5, Pick 17, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
