Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureC
The Dolphins checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 39 spots for Elijhah Badger, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

It is not that Winston Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a load in the middle. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They liked Alfred Collins enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 48. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick78 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A straight-up fair deal on Andrew Mukuba at No. 78, value and slot in agreement. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick98 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
A curious use of the 98th pick. Edge rusher and linebacker needed the pick; a safety in Kevin Winston Jr. did not.
Pick116 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
By-the-book stuff, Kyle McCord at the Round 4 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
A real head-scratcher, Luke Kandra in the 135th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick150 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick155 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at slot 155 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at pick 224 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick231 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
They reached into another round for Hayden Conner, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick253 Rnd7 Elijhah Badger
A big swing on Elijhah Badger at the 253rd pick, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
