Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureC
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Dolphins.

The tape said wait; the Dolphins did not. Hayden Conner went at pick 231, a good 36 picks before the board was ready. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Winston Jr. pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with edge rusher and linebacker still on the board. The Howard steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In pick 16 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They liked Alfred Collins enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 48. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick78 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
They paid sticker price for Andrew Mukuba in pick No. 78, and that is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick98 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Kevin Winston Jr. while clear needs at edge rusher and linebacker sat open.
Pick116 Rnd4 Will Howard
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Will Howard in No. 116. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick135 Rnd4 Pat Bryant
A reach on Pat Bryant in the 135th pick; the board had better options right there. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick150 Rnd5 O'Donnell Fortune
O'Donnell Fortune at No. 150 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick155 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at the 155th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
They reached into another round for Jackson Hawes, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick231 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
A wild overpay on Hayden Conner in the 231st pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The roster fit checks out.
Pick253 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
Torricelli Simpkins III in pick 253 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
