Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Dolphins, and a B- to prove it.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 34 spots for Hayden Conner, and value like that does not grow back. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

Getting McCord where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Spending an early pick on safety with edge rusher and linebacker open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the edge rusher spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the Round 1 slot they get a run-stuffing presence up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick48 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
They took Alfred Collins at par in slot 48, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick98 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Kevin Winston Jr. at pick No. 98, value and slot in agreement. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick116 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Malachi Moore while clear needs at edge rusher and linebacker sat open.
Pick135 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kyle McCord in the 135th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
They reached into another round for Kyle Williams, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick155 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
They talked themselves into Raheim Sanders at No. 155, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jackson Hawes well ahead of where he belonged. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick231 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
Hayden Conner at the 231st overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
They jumped the gun on Torricelli Simpkins III, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
