The Dolphins kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The Chimere Dike selection is the head-turner. The Dolphins reached 56 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

They will answer for taking safety early while edge rusher and linebacker went begging. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. That McCord pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In the 13th overall pick they get a wrecking ball inside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick48 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at pick No. 48 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick98 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
No edge and no loss on Kevin Winston Jr. in the 98th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick116 Rnd4 Malachi Moore
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Malachi Moore at safety with edge rusher and linebacker open.
Pick135 Rnd4 Kyle McCord
They barely believed it either: Kyle McCord still on the board at the Round 4 slot. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick150 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in Round 5, Pick 12 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick155 Rnd5 Chimere Dike
Value said wait; Chimere Dike in the 155th overall pick says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
They talked themselves into Jackson Hawes at pick 224, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Pick231 Rnd7 Carson Vinson
They did well to land Carson Vinson in No. 231, just ahead of his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick253 Rnd7 Torricelli Simpkins III
Torricelli Simpkins III at pick No. 253 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
