The Bears won the night they stopped Mullings from sliding. Grade: F. Thirty-one other rooms let Kalel Mullings slide, and the Bears were the ones holding the card at pick No. 234. Highway robbery. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.
If Mills pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The Bears indulged a want in Mukuba while a need in cornerback and quarterback stayed open.
That cornerback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting the present roster is worth a lighter draft next spring.
