Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns let Stewart fall and pounced. Final grade: B.

Somebody in the 255th overall pick was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Josaiah Stewart, the No. 50 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. They went 7 of 9 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In the 2nd pick they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Cam Ward
They robbed the room for Cam Ward here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick67 Rnd3 Ashton Jeanty
Ashton Jeanty in pick No. 67 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Armand Membou
Circle this one: Armand Membou at Round 3, Pick 30 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Nick Emmanwori
The board fumbled Nick Emmanwori all the way to pick 104, and they scooped it up. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick179 Rnd6 Walter Nolen
They will replay Walter Nolen at the 179th overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Jahdae Barron
Jahdae Barron at No. 192 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jihaad Campbell
Somehow Jihaad Campbell was still sitting there in slot 200, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick216 Rnd6 Will Howard
You do not let a quarterback like Will Howard reach slot 216 and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick255 Rnd7 Josaiah Stewart
Josaiah Stewart at pick No. 255 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
