Deluca DRAFTING FOR THEGiants

Overall

ValueB-

FutureA+
The Giants cleaned up, and the board agrees: A-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Giants reached some 172 spots for Barryn Sorrell, and value like that does not grow back.
Hampton at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.
In short, they turned a good board into a better roster, and it shows.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In No. 25 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach the Round 2 slot and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tre Harris
No edge and no loss on Tre Harris in pick 44; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick49
Rnd2
Donovan Ezeiruaku
A wild overpay on Donovan Ezeiruaku in the 49th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick65
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
They paid sticker price for Andrew Mukuba in the 65th overall pick, and that is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick76
Rnd3
Will Howard
They left a pile of value on the table to take Will Howard this early at pick No. 76. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
Ozzy Trapilo in Round 3, Pick 25 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick104
Rnd4
Omarion Hampton
The board fumbled Omarion Hampton all the way to pick No. 104, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick134
Rnd4
Barrett Carter
Barrett Carter in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick154
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in slot 154 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick155
Rnd5
Barryn Sorrell
They reached into another round for Barryn Sorrell, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick221
Rnd7
Seth McLaughlin
This one needs a full-page explanation: Seth McLaughlin in the 221st pick, miles early. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick248
Rnd7
Jack Kiser
Somehow Jack Kiser was still sitting there in pick 248, and they pounced on premier linebacker value. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
