Draft Grade — Seahawks
Overall C+
ValueB- NeedB TradesD FutureB
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Seahawks: C+.

For all the boxes ticked, the Seahawks skipped the loudest one: edge rusher is exactly as bare as it was. Call it a C+ and check back in two years.

The Martinez steal is the beam this whole class leans on. Reaching for Frazier left real value on the table behind him. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Hit on Jalon Walker and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Jalon Walker
Jalon Walker at slot 18 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick50 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Harold Fannin Jr. at the 50th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick92 Rnd3 Cam Skattebo
A reasonable price with a little left over, Cam Skattebo in the 92nd pick. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick97 Rnd3 Will Howard
By-the-book stuff, Will Howard at the Round 3 slot squarely in line with his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick109 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
A conviction pick on Miles Frazier at pick No. 109 that the board grades a round light. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick172 Rnd5 Damien Martinez
Damien Martinez is a better player than pick 172 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick173 Rnd5 Ben Sauls
A tidy little value on Ben Sauls in No. 173, a step better than break-even. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick177 Rnd6 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at Round 6, Pick 1 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick223 Rnd7 Luke Elzinga
Luke Elzinga in the 223rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick234 Rnd7 Akili Arnold
They paid sticker price for Akili Arnold in No. 234, and that is fine. A minor itch, scratched.
