Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB+ TradesF FutureB
The phones sank the Jaguars this weekend: C+.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Jaguars shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

The offensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Landing Phillips that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Jahdae Barron
By-the-book stuff, Jahdae Barron at pick No. 12 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Good price on Derrick Harmon in the 36th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick70 Rnd3 Darien Porter
Darien Porter at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick107 Rnd4 Devin Neal
Value with a capital V on Devin Neal in No. 107, a genuine coup. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick126 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
A tidy bit of business in slot 126, where Jordan Phillips graded well above the range. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick142 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the 142nd overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick149 Rnd5 Tyler Shough
Tyler Shough in pick 149 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick182 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They took Dont'e Thornton Jr. at par in Round 6, Pick 6, which is nothing to complain about. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jarquez Hunter
Nothing to complain about; Jarquez Hunter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick221 Rnd7 R.J. Mickens
R.J. Mickens in the 221st overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
