Draft Grade — Giants
Overall B-
ValueD+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Giants a B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Giants did exactly that with Sevion Morrison in Round 4, Pick 3. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

Getting Gadsden II where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They punted on interior defensive lineman, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick3 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In Round 1, Pick 3 they get a ballhawk on the outside, reach and all. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jalen Milroe well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick65 Rnd3 Malaki Starks
Malaki Starks in slot 65 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick99 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
Value said wait; Oluwafemi Oladejo in No. 99 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Pick105 Rnd4 Sevion Morrison
Sevion Morrison at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It fills a real need, too.
Pick154 Rnd5 James Burnip
James Burnip at the 154th pick is a conviction pick that outran the value. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick246 Rnd7 Theo Wease Jr.
A reach for Theo Wease Jr. in Round 7, Pick 30; a little patience would have been rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick249 Rnd7 Oronde Gadsden II
Circle this one: Oronde Gadsden II at pick No. 249 is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
