Larceny in slot 255 lands the Bengals a D+, Arroyo and all.

Somebody in No. 255 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bengals sat still while Elijah Arroyo, the No. 74 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A D+ that will need time and luck to look better.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want.

The veteran additions, Alvin Kamara chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and wide receiver is still a hole.

In pick 4 they get a disruptive interior force at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick17 Rnd1 Shemar Stewart
In the 17th pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare. Need was not the driver here.

The board had Armand Membou higher than pick No. 23, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick49 Rnd2 Jahdae Barron
The board fumbled Jahdae Barron all the way to No. 49, and they scooped it up. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick81 Rnd3 Demetrius Knight Jr.
A linebacker of that caliber at slot 81 is the definition of value, full stop. It fills a real need, too.

Maxwell Hairston at Round 4, Pick 17 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Dylan Fairchild in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.

Azareye'h Thomas in the 216th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick255 Rnd7 Elijah Arroyo
Taking Elijah Arroyo in slot 255 is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
