Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Patriots never addressed interior defensive lineman, and it is the kind of gap that lingers.

They will need Alexander to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. On value alone, Washington II makes the weekend a net positive.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
