Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Eagles.

The Eagles spent real capital to be 73 picks early on Akheem Mesidor, and the board is going to hold them to it. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. It is not that Boettcher is a bad player; it is that the Eagles had louder needs to answer first.

Rivers at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Mikail Kamara
In the 30th overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62 Rnd2 Drayk Bowen
Drayk Bowen at the Round 2 slot is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick68 Rnd3 Eric Rivers
A tidy bit of business in No. 68, where Eric Rivers graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick94 Rnd3 Gabe Jacas
No edge and no loss on Gabe Jacas in the 94th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99 Rnd3 Adepoju Adebawore
They reached a country mile for Adepoju Adebawore at pick No. 99, and the board is aghast. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick130 Rnd4 Bryce Boettcher
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 130 on Bryce Boettcher with interior defensive lineman, offensive lineman and other spots unsolved.
Pick136 Rnd4 Darius Taylor
Darius Taylor in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick159 Rnd5 Cameron Calhoun
They took Cameron Calhoun at par in pick No. 159, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick169 Rnd5 Dane Key
Dane Key slipping to No. 169 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick178 Rnd6 Noah Fifita
Value with a capital V on Noah Fifita in pick 178, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
Pick191 Rnd6 Akheem Mesidor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Akheem Mesidor. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick243 Rnd7 Tony Grimes
The board had Tony Grimes higher than the 243rd overall pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
