GHDRAFTII DRAFTING FOR THECommanders
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B-
ValueC+

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Commanders kept it disciplined and banked a B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Commanders would have aced it. Mitchell Melton at slot 237 is 100 spots clear of where he belonged.
The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That McKinney pick is the receipt they will wave around later. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Matayo Uiagalelei
Matayo Uiagalelei in the 24th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick88
Rnd3
R Mason Thomas
No drama and no debate, R Mason Thomas went about where he belonged in pick 88. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick163
Rnd5
DJ McKinney
A tidy bit of business in Round 5, Pick 25, where DJ McKinney graded well above the range. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick202
Rnd6
J.C. Davis
They went early on J.C. Davis in slot 202, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick237
Rnd7
Mitchell Melton
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Mitchell Melton. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
