Draft Grade — Packers
Overall C
ValueC NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The Packers let Lampkin fall into their laps, and walked away with a C.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Packers did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high.

On value alone, Lampkin makes the weekend a net positive. They will need Lindenberg to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

The veteran additions, Budda Baker chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.

Hit on Marcus Mbow and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Marcus Mbow
In pick No. 23 they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick54 Rnd2 Xavier Watts
A slide stopped in No. 54, with Xavier Watts worth more than the price. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick87 Rnd3 Devin Neal
Devin Neal at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick125 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
The board had Zy Alexander higher than pick 125, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick159 Rnd5 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
No edge and no loss on Antwaun Powell-Ryland in slot 159; it is a wash and a sensible one. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick198 Rnd6 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Value with a capital V on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in Round 6, Pick 22, a genuine coup. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick208 Rnd6 Willie Lampkin
Willie Lampkin in the 208th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick237 Rnd7 Cody Lindenberg
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cody Lindenberg well ahead of where he belonged. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
