Draft Grade — Jaguars

Grand theft in slot 88: the Jaguars steal Hampton and grade out a B.

Call it larceny. Omarion Hampton sat on the board until the 88th pick, and the Jaguars did not need to be asked twice. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

They are betting Hancock proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.

Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get protection for the quarterback. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36 Rnd2 Kenneth Grant
Kenneth Grant slid further than he should have, and the 36th pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick70 Rnd3 Elijah Arroyo
They took Elijah Arroyo at par in No. 70, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick88 Rnd3 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in the 88th overall pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick126 Rnd4 Gunnar Helm
They barely believed it either: Gunnar Helm still on the board at the Round 4 slot. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick142 Rnd5 Ty Robinson
A wild overpay on Ty Robinson in pick No. 142, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick182 Rnd6 Tommi Hill
Value with a capital V on Tommi Hill in pick 182, a genuine coup. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick194 Rnd6 Jordan Hancock
Jordan Hancock at slot 194 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
