Draft Grade — Chiefs
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureF
Larceny in the 63rd overall pick lands the Chiefs a B-, Harmon and all.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Chiefs were there to profit. Derrick Harmon, the No. 31 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 63.

The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. They will need Fannin Jr. to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick31 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
By-the-book stuff, Josh Conerly Jr. at the 31st pick squarely in line with his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick34 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at the 34th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick63 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
You do not let an interior defensive lineman like Derrick Harmon reach No. 63 and blink. They did not. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick66 Rnd3 Shemar Turner
They paid up for Shemar Turner at slot 66 when waiting would have done the job. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick95 Rnd3 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson in pick No. 95 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick133 Rnd4 Kobe King
Fair-plus on Kobe King, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick226 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
A slide stopped in Round 7, Pick 10, with Caleb Ransaw worth more than the price. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick251 Rnd7 Alijah Huzzie
Steal is underselling it; Alijah Huzzie at pick 251 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
