Jaybeast17 DRAFTING FOR THEPanthers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Panthers
Overall

TradesB-
FutureB-
The Panthers land in the muddy middle: C+. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Panthers took Steven Parker a full 297 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Some smart calls, some head-scratchers, and a C+ in the wash.
Landing Jackson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The linebacker spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 4 of 9 of the wish list covered. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Will Johnson
Will Johnson at pick No. 8 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick57
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
They took Jayden Higgins at par in slot 57, which is nothing to complain about. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick74
Rnd3
Steven Parker
A big swing on Steven Parker at pick 74, well ahead of any board in the building. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick111
Rnd4
Oluwafemi Oladejo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Oluwafemi Oladejo well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick114
Rnd4
JJ Pegues
A real head-scratcher, JJ Pegues in Round 4, Pick 12 is miles ahead of his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick140
Rnd5
Ty French
They left a pile of value on the table to take Ty French this early at the Round 5 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146
Rnd5
Ahmed Hassanein
Ahmed Hassanein at the 146th overall pick is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick163
Rnd5
Donovan Jackson
They barely believed it either: Donovan Jackson still on the board at No. 163. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jasheen Davis
They reached a country mile for Jasheen Davis at the Round 7 slot, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
