Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall

FutureB
The Chargers got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the C+. The Chargers looked at the value chart, folded it up, and took Aidan Keanaaina at the 125th overall pick regardless, 263 picks early. A weekend of give and take that grades a C+.
They banked enough surplus on Gillotte to cover a lot of smaller sins. The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close.
They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it. The Darnell Mooney deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
A perfectly average weekend, for better and for worse.
Pick Analysis
Pick22
Rnd1
Princely Umanmielen
In No. 22 they get a bendy edge with upside, even if it was a touch early. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick55
Rnd2
Landon Jackson
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Landon Jackson at pick No. 55 is the proof. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick86
Rnd3
Cameron Williams
Cameron Williams is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The roster fit checks out.
Pick125
Rnd4
Aidan Keanaaina
They reached into another round for Aidan Keanaaina, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick158
Rnd5
TreVeyon Henderson
The board fumbled TreVeyon Henderson all the way to the 158th overall pick, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick181
Rnd6
Moliki Matavao
Moliki Matavao in the 181st pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick196
Rnd6
James Burnip
Taking James Burnip in pick No. 196 is close to grand larceny; a specialist that good had no business lasting this long. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick199
Rnd6
Pat Bryant
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick 199 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209
Rnd6
Ashton Gillotte
Circle this one: Ashton Gillotte at the 209th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick214
Rnd6
Jaylen Reed
They robbed the room for Jaylen Reed here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick256
Rnd7
Dominic Lovett
Dominic Lovett in the 256th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
