You build a draft on nights like this. Cody Simon had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Steelers did the only sane thing and turned in the card.

Spending an early pick on offensive lineman with quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to. Every board in the league had Zabel lower, and that gap is the story. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
