Nobody else had Jaylen Reed anywhere near pick No. 146. The Panthers did, by 43 spots, and that gap is the whole story. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

Getting Caldwell where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Leaving offensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
