Best value of the weekend goes to the Colts for Leonard: B-. The board owed the Colts one, and it paid up: Riley Leonard, the No. 130 name on the board, sitting there at the 189th pick like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped wide receiver, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Knight Jr. lower, and that gap is the story.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick14
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the Round 1 slot they get a seam-stretching tight end. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick45
Rnd2
Demetrius Knight Jr.
Demetrius Knight Jr. at pick No. 45 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick80
Rnd3
Jordan Burch
A reach on Jordan Burch in slot 80; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick117
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
Steal is underselling it; Zy Alexander at pick 117 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick151
Rnd5
Sai'vion Jones
The board had Sai'vion Jones higher than the 151st overall pick, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick189
Rnd6
Riley Leonard
They will replay Riley Leonard at No. 189 for years; that is how good the value is. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
