FutureC
Best value of the weekend goes to the Bears for Sanders: B. Thirty-one other rooms let Raheim Sanders slide, and the Bears were the ones holding the card at the 227th pick. Highway robbery. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
The Mills pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck.
With edge rusher, cornerback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
No drama and no debate, Tyler Booker went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 1. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick37
Rnd2
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell in pick 37 is fair value, right on his grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
No edge and no loss on Tyler Warren in slot 40; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick47
Rnd2
Malaki Starks
You do not let a safety like Malaki Starks reach pick No. 47 and blink. They did not. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick63
Rnd2
Andrew Mukuba
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Andrew Mukuba adds a safety and leaves edge rusher, cornerback and other spots untouched.
Pick71
Rnd3
Rylie Mills
Rylie Mills at No. 71 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick95
Rnd3
Evan Stewart
Evan Stewart in the 95th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick110
Rnd4
Cam Skattebo
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cam Skattebo. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders at pick No. 227 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
