Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Lions: C.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Ethan Downs at pick No. 130, a reach of 160 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. Call it a C and check back in two years.

However the rest shakes out, Burch at that price is a win they earned. The safety hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.

So much rides on Cobee Bryant that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick Analysis
Pick28 Rnd1 Cobee Bryant
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get a potential shutdown corner, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick60 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Taking Tyler Booker in the 60th overall pick is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102 Rnd3 Oluwafemi Oladejo
Oluwafemi Oladejo in pick 102 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick130 Rnd4 Ethan Downs
A big swing on Ethan Downs at No. 130, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jordan Burch
Circle this one: Jordan Burch at pick No. 196 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick228 Rnd7 Da'Quan Felton
A real head-scratcher, Da'Quan Felton in the Round 7 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick244 Rnd7 Jack Nelson
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 244 is the definition of value, full stop. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
