The Jets did not so much draft Marcus Major as overpay for him, 327 picks clear of his grade. It sets an uneasy tone for the weekend.

Landing Fannin Jr. that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
