Draft Grade — Chargers
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Chargers: B-.

Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Chargers spent the 86th overall pick on Antwaun Powell-Ryland, a name the board had a full 68 spots lower. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.

Moore falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.

Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick Analysis
Pick22 Rnd1 Josaiah Stewart
In pick No. 22 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Tre Harris
A clean, defensible pick in pick 55 with a little surplus value in Tre Harris. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick86 Rnd3 Antwaun Powell-Ryland
Antwaun Powell-Ryland in the Round 3 slot is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick125 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
Steal is underselling it; Zy Alexander at the 125th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick158 Rnd5 Emery Jones Jr.
They will replay Emery Jones Jr. at slot 158 for years; that is how good the value is. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick181 Rnd6 Malachi Moore
They robbed the room for Malachi Moore here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick199 Rnd6 Zeek Biggers
A real head-scratcher, Zeek Biggers in the 199th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick209 Rnd6 Jahvaree Ritzie
Value said wait; Jahvaree Ritzie in the 209th overall pick says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick214 Rnd6 Logan Parr
They left a pile of value on the table to take Logan Parr this early at Round 6, Pick 38. The roster fit checks out.
Pick256 Rnd7 Ja'Quinden Jackson
Ja'Quinden Jackson in slot 256 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It fills a real need, too.
