Bucs247 DRAFTING FOR THEBuccaneers

Good, not great, for the Buccaneers: B-. The Buccaneers put a flag in the ground for Jake Briningstool, 27 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The bottom line is a respectable B-.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick15
Rnd1
James Pearce Jr.
In No. 15 they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though they paid up to get him.
Pick46
Rnd2
Jalen Milroe
A market-rate quarterback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalen Milroe. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick81
Rnd3
Deontae Lawson
No edge and no loss on Deontae Lawson in pick 81; it is a wash and a sensible one. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick117
Rnd4
Jake Briningstool
They talked themselves into Jake Briningstool at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick153
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant in the 153rd pick is fair value, right on his grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick233
Rnd7
Elijhah Badger
A straight-up fair deal on Elijhah Badger at Round 7, Pick 19, value and slot in agreement. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
