Smith should have been long gone. The Broncos pounced, and earned a B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Brashard Smith, the No. 100 name on the board, stolen at No. 189. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They are betting Ferguson proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with linebacker the one that mattered most. The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
