Oz DRAFTING FOR THEBengals

Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall

FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B for the Bengals. There is a lot to like until you notice tight end is still a hole. The Bengals never got to the one that mattered most. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Higgins. If Dellinger pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
Job largely done: cornerback settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but tight end.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the 11th overall pick they get an anchor for the defensive front. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jack Sawyer
Jack Sawyer at No. 43 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick75
Rnd3
Jay Higgins
A quiet steal in the 75th pick: Jay Higgins for less than the market said. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick112
Rnd4
Deone Walker
A conviction pick on Deone Walker at Round 4, Pick 11 that the board grades a round light. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick149
Rnd5
Cobee Bryant
Cobee Bryant at pick No. 149 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick187
Rnd6
Kevin Winston Jr.
They liked Kevin Winston Jr. enough to skip the value, taking him in the Round 6 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick227
Rnd7
Garrett Dellinger
A reach on Garrett Dellinger in pick 227; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
