The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Williams: B-.

The 49ers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Savion Williams fell into the Round 4 slot. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. They will need Grant to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Mykel Williams
In No. 11 they get a premier pass rusher at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Landon Jackson
They read the board right and Landon Jackson was the payoff at slot 43. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick75 Rnd3 Charles Grant
A wild overpay on Charles Grant in pick 75, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick99 Rnd3 Carson Schwesinger
Carson Schwesinger at Round 3, Pick 35 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick112 Rnd4 Savion Williams
Savion Williams at pick No. 112 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick138 Rnd4 LeQuint Allen
A clean, defensible pick in the 138th pick with a little surplus value in LeQuint Allen. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick139 Rnd4 Jackson Slater
Jackson Slater at the 139th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
