Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB+ TradesC- FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Patriots for Singleton: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Nicholas Singleton at No. 217 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

They are betting Williams proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it.

The trades cost them a sliver of value they did not need to spend. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Abdul Carter
In pick No. 6 they get juice off the edge. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick37 Rnd2 Derrick Harmon
Nothing to complain about; Derrick Harmon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick38 Rnd2 Nick Emmanwori
Taking Nick Emmanwori in No. 38 is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick69 Rnd3 Darien Porter
They paid a round early for Darien Porter in Round 3, Pick 5, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick77 Rnd3 Hollin Pierce
They talked themselves into Hollin Pierce at the 77th overall pick, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Pick102 Rnd4 Deontae Lawson
A linebacker of that caliber at pick 102 is the definition of value, full stop. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick105 Rnd4 Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor at slot 105 is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick111 Rnd4 Blake Miller
Value said wait; Blake Miller in the 111th pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick143 Rnd5 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles slipping to Round 5, Pick 6 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in No. 216 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick217 Rnd7 Nicholas Singleton
They robbed the room for Nicholas Singleton here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick220 Rnd7 Le'Veon Moss
Somehow Le'Veon Moss was still sitting there in the 220th overall pick, and they pounced on premier running back value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick241 Rnd7 Gentry Williams
A real head-scratcher, Gentry Williams in slot 241 is miles ahead of his ranking. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
