The Cardinals worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-. Whoever sat across the table from the Cardinals should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Denzel Ward pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns. Getting Sanders where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
In the end it comes back to Josh Conerly Jr., and a haul good enough to build on right away.
Pick Analysis
Pick33
Rnd2
Josh Conerly Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Josh Conerly Jr. at the 33rd overall pick, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick47
Rnd2
T.J. Sanders
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing T.J. Sanders in pick 47. The roster fit checks out.
