Draft Grade — Saints
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureD-
The Saints won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: B.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Saints reached some 58 spots for Kyren Lacy, and value like that does not grow back. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Landing Henderson that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

That offensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. The Saints paired the rookies with proven help, Davante Adams leading the way.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Will Johnson
In the 10th overall pick they get an island corner, outstanding value to boot. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick70 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in the 70th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick81 Rnd3 Danny Stutsman
A slide stopped in Round 3, Pick 17, with Danny Stutsman worth more than the price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick106 Rnd4 Jalon Walker
They paid sticker price for Jalon Walker in pick No. 106, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick113 Rnd4 Kyren Lacy
A wild overpay on Kyren Lacy in the Round 4 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick138 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
A real head-scratcher, Mason Taylor in No. 138 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick170 Rnd6 Denver Harris
Denver Harris in pick No. 170 lands just on the right side of the ledger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick188 Rnd6 Zy Alexander
They went early on Zy Alexander in the 188th overall pick, and the value did not follow. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
