The board owed the Buccaneers one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 114 name on the board, sitting there at the 223rd overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.

The Campbell pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at edge rusher and quarterback. The cost of the Conner reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. They left with interior defensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
