Grand theft in the Round 2 slot: the Packers steal Sanders and grade out a D-.

The Packers treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 216 on Cody Simon a full 32 spots early. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Getting Sanders where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The verdict is not kind, and fairly so; this class has a hill to climb.

In pick 23 they get a wrecking ball inside, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick55 Rnd2 Shedeur Sanders
Taking Shedeur Sanders in slot 55 is close to grand larceny; a quarterback that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick56 Rnd2 Barrett Carter
Value with a capital V on Barrett Carter in the Round 2 slot, a genuine coup. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick87 Rnd3 Shilo Sanders
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Shilo Sanders at No. 87. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick88 Rnd3 Tory Horton
Somehow Tory Horton was still sitting there in slot 88, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick119 Rnd4 Raheim Sanders
A tidy bit of business in pick 119, where Raheim Sanders graded well above the range. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.

They liked Davison Igbinosun enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 120. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.

Jack Kiser at the 215th pick is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.

This one needs a full-page explanation: Cody Simon in pick No. 216, miles early. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
