TradesA-
FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B for the Packers. When the story of this class is written, it opens with Decamerion Richardson at pick No. 255, a reach of 61 spots that the board flatly disagrees with. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
That is a running back worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver.
The trade work was a quiet net positive.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but wide receiver.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
No drama and no debate, Amarius Mims went about where he belonged in the 25th overall pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick27
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
In No. 27 they get a ballhawk on the outside at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick63
Rnd2
Jonathon Brooks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jonathon Brooks at the 63rd pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaden Hicks in Round 3, Pick 25. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick124
Rnd4
Mohamed Kamara
A reach on Mohamed Kamara in pick No. 124; the board had better options right there. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick126
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
Roger Rosengarten in the Round 4 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick131
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
No edge and no loss on Jarrian Jones in the 131st overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169
Rnd5
Tanor Bortolini
They went early on Tanor Bortolini in slot 169, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
Pick186
Rnd6
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in pick No. 186 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford in No. 202 is fair value, right on his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick219
Rnd6
Drake Nugent
Drake Nugent at pick 219 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick245
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
Trey Taylor at the 245th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick255
Rnd7
Decamerion Richardson
They reached a country mile for Decamerion Richardson at Round 7, Pick 35, and the board is aghast. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
