Draft Grade — Packers
Overall

ValueB

FutureB-
The Packers cashed the board's mistake on Williams: B-. The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Packers watched James Williams slide 95 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B- says as much.
They are betting Leary proves the room right and everyone else wrong. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the 25th overall pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick41
Rnd2
Junior Colson
A reach on Junior Colson in Round 2, Pick 9; the board had better options right there. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick58
Rnd2
Max Melton
Max Melton in pick 58 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
They paid sticker price for Dominick Puni in the 88th pick, and that is fine. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick105
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
They talked themselves into Beaux Limmer at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick110
Rnd4
Ray Davis
Ray Davis in No. 110 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick126
Rnd4
Roger Rosengarten
They went early on Roger Rosengarten in slot 126, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick170
Rnd5
Dallin Holker
Dallin Holker in pick No. 170 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jaylin Simpson
Taking Jaylin Simpson in pick 202 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick219
Rnd6
James Williams
They robbed the room for James Williams here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick239
Rnd7
Trente Jones
Trente Jones at the 239th overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick245
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
A wild overpay on Trey Taylor in Round 7, Pick 25, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick255
Rnd7
Devin Leary
They left a pile of value on the table to take Devin Leary this early at the Round 7 slot. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
