FutureB-
Grand theft in pick No. 126: the Packers steal Benson and grade out a C. Somebody in pick 126 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Packers sat still while Trey Benson, the No. 87 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.
Every board in the league had Anderson lower, and that gap is the story. The trades bled value they could not afford to lose.
Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered. Value over need was the throughline, for better and worse.
So much rides on Chop Robinson that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
Fair-plus on Chop Robinson, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper DeJean
They let Cooper DeJean come to them and pounced at pick No. 41. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick58
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Cooper Beebe in the 58th pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick88
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
By-the-book stuff, Dominick Puni at Round 3, Pick 25 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick105
Rnd4
Cedric Gray
A reach for Cedric Gray in pick 105; a little patience would have been rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick110
Rnd4
Beaux Limmer
Beaux Limmer at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick126
Rnd4
Trey Benson
You do not let a running back like Trey Benson reach slot 126 and blink. They did not. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick131
Rnd4
Ben Sinnott
No drama and no debate, Ben Sinnott went about where he belonged in the 131st overall pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick133
Rnd4
Hunter Nourzad
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Hunter Nourzad well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick169
Rnd5
Tyrone Tracy Jr.
They barely believed it either: Tyrone Tracy Jr. still on the board at pick No. 169. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick171
Rnd5
Sione Vaki
Value with a capital V on Sione Vaki in No. 171, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick172
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
A real head-scratcher, Joe Milton III in Round 5, Pick 36 is miles ahead of his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick202
Rnd6
Trente Jones
Trente Jones in the 202nd overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick219
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jaylan Ford at slot 219. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick245
Rnd7
Evan Anderson
They talked themselves into Evan Anderson at pick 245, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick255
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
A premium they did not need to pay, Trey Taylor a notch or two before his time. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
