FutureB-
No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Packers. The tape said wait; the Packers did not. Jack Westover went at the 255th overall pick, a good 66 picks before the board was ready. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. That Jackson pick is the receipt they will wave around later.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Chop Robinson
In pick 25 they get a double-digit-sack hope. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick41
Rnd2
Graham Barton
A quiet steal in the 41st pick: Graham Barton for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick62
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at the 62nd overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in pick No. 88 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick91
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at the Round 3 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick113
Rnd4
Khyree Jackson
The board fumbled Khyree Jackson all the way to Round 4, Pick 13, and they scooped it up. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick126
Rnd4
Jarrian Jones
Jarrian Jones at pick No. 126 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick165
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
No edge and no loss on Malik Mustapha in the Round 5 slot; it is a wash and a sensible one. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick169
Rnd5
Jordan Jefferson
They jumped the gun on Jordan Jefferson, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick202
Rnd6
Caedan Wallace
A conviction pick on Caedan Wallace at Round 6, Pick 27 that the board grades a round light. It fills a real need, too.
Pick219
Rnd6
Jalen Sundell
A wild overpay on Jalen Sundell in slot 219, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick245
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
Value said wait; Trey Taylor in No. 245 says they were not listening. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jack Westover
Jack Westover in the 255th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The roster fit checks out.
