FutureB-
The Packers fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B. The Isaac Rex selection is the head-turner. The Packers reached 77 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.
They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.
However the rest shakes out, Melton at that price is a win they earned. Adding Tariq Woolen by trade rounds out the weekend beyond the rookies.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Jordan Morgan
In the 30th overall pick they get protection for the quarterback at fair value.
Pick41
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
Value said wait; Zach Frazier in No. 41 says they were not listening. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick58
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at slot 58 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick88
Rnd3
Max Melton
A tidy bit of business in pick No. 88, where Max Melton graded well above the range. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick91
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at Round 3, Pick 28 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the running back. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick126
Rnd4
Javon Foster
Good price on Javon Foster in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III at the 169th pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick202
Rnd6
Jalen Sundell
Jalen Sundell in the 202nd overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick219
Rnd6
C.J. Hanson
A big swing on C.J. Hanson at the Round 6 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245
Rnd7
Isaac Rex
Isaac Rex at slot 245 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255
Rnd7
Josh Proctor
They read the board right and Josh Proctor was the payoff at pick No. 255. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick256
Rnd7
Tyler Owens
No edge and no loss on Tyler Owens in No. 256; it is a wash and a sensible one. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick257
Rnd7
Trey Taylor
They paid a round early for Trey Taylor in pick 257, more than the board wanted. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
