Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Packers let Johnson fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Packers were there to profit. Cornelius Johnson, the No. 188 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 219th pick. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Hanson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Cooper DeJean
In pick 25 they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick41 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
Jonathon Brooks in the 41st overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Payton Wilson
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in the 58th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick88 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
A slide stopped in slot 88, with Mike Sainristil worth more than the price. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91 Rnd3 Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at pick No. 91 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick126 Rnd4 Christian Jones
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Jones at Round 4, Pick 26, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick169 Rnd5 Kitan Oladapo
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Kitan Oladapo in the Round 5 slot. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick202 Rnd6 Joe Milton III
By-the-book stuff, Joe Milton III at No. 202 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219 Rnd6 Cornelius Johnson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Cornelius Johnson in No. 219, plain and simple. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick245 Rnd7 Josh Proctor
Josh Proctor at the 245th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Pick255 Rnd7 C.J. Hanson
They liked C.J. Hanson enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 255. It fills a real need, too.
