FutureA
Johnson should have been long gone. The Packers pounced, and earned a B. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Cornelius Johnson got past him. The Packers do not have to explain a thing at the 219th overall pick.
For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Reaching for Eboigbe left real value on the table behind him. They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
The future picks help the war chest more than the win-now roster.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick41
Rnd2
Graham Barton
Graham Barton slipping to the 41st overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick58
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
A tidy bit of business in No. 58, where Edgerrin Cooper graded well above the range. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick81
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 81 with a little surplus value in Mike Sainristil. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88
Rnd3
Jaden Hicks
Jaden Hicks in the Round 3 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick95
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
A straight-up fair deal on Christian Mahogany at pick 95, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick118
Rnd4
Braelon Allen
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Braelon Allen at slot 118 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick126
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
Justin Eboigbe at Round 4, Pick 26 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick169
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
A conviction pick on Khristian Boyd at the 169th pick that the board grades a round light. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick202
Rnd6
Caedan Wallace
They went early on Caedan Wallace in No. 202, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick219
Rnd6
Cornelius Johnson
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Cornelius Johnson in slot 219, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick245
Rnd7
C.J. Hanson
They talked themselves into C.J. Hanson at pick 245, and the board did not agree. The roster fit checks out.
Pick255
Rnd7
Tyler Owens
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Owens at the 255th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
