FutureA+
A franchise passer in Daniels headlines a B- weekend for the Commanders. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Commanders committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline.
They are betting Ugwoegbu proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They banked enough surplus on Guyton to cover a lot of smaller sins. They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back.
Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick5
Rnd1
Jayden Daniels
By-the-book stuff, Jayden Daniels at slot 5 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick36
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
Jordan Morgan at the 36th overall pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick37
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
They left a pile of value on the table to take Edgerrin Cooper this early at Round 2, Pick 5. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick67
Rnd3
Tyler Guyton
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Guyton at the 67th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick69
Rnd3
Brandon Dorlus
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Brandon Dorlus at No. 69. The roster fit checks out.
Pick100
Rnd3
Mike Sainristil
Somehow Mike Sainristil was still sitting there in the Round 3 slot, and they pounced on premier cornerback value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick102
Rnd4
Zak Zinter
Fair-plus on Zak Zinter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick141
Rnd5
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint in pick No. 141 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick181
Rnd6
David Ugwoegbu
Value said wait; David Ugwoegbu in the Round 6 slot says they were not listening. The roster logic is harder to follow.
Pick223
Rnd7
Austin Stogner
A tight end of that caliber at the 223rd pick is the definition of value, full stop. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
