Draft Grade — Steelers

The Steelers did enough to get by: C+. The rest of the league had time to spare on Trevin Wallace; the Steelers did not wait, grabbing him 114 spots ahead at No. 119.
The Frazier pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at quarterback, safety and other spots. The quarterback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Washington. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Hit on Amarius Mims and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick20
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
Amarius Mims in the Round 1 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick51
Rnd2
Zach Frazier
A surprising call. With quarterback, safety and other spots still to address, they spent Round 2, Pick 19 on Zach Frazier, an offensive lineman they were not short of.
Pick84
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They reached a country mile for Maason Smith at pick 84, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick98
Rnd3
Jalen McMillan
They took Jalen McMillan at par in the 98th pick, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick119
Rnd4
Trevin Wallace
Trevin Wallace in slot 119 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick178
Rnd6
M.J. Devonshire
They went early on M.J. Devonshire in pick No. 178, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195
Rnd6
Tahj Washington
Nice patience on Tahj Washington, who had no business lasting to Round 6, Pick 20. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
