Truezy DRAFTING FOR THECardinals

Draft Grade — Cardinals

Larceny in the 71st pick lands the Cardinals a B, James and all. The weekend has a hole in the middle of it named quarterback, a need the Cardinals walked right past. No fireworks, but a solid B.
Getting James where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. They will need Braswell to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.
Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In slot 4 they get a No. 1 receiver. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Amarius Mims
In No. 27 they get a cornerstone up front at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Chris Braswell
A reach for Chris Braswell in the 35th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick66
Rnd3
Sedrick Van Pran
They paid sticker price for Sedrick Van Pran in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71
Rnd3
DJ James
DJ James in pick No. 71 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick90
Rnd3
Javon Baker
Javon Baker at pick 90 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
